Brazen duo nicking snowblowers busted
A Cranbrook resident witnessed a brazen theft from their yard yesterday morning (Jan. 15).
“I just had my snowblower stolen on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in broad daylight. The two backed into my rear driveway and loaded it into their white Dodge crew cab. There were two occupants, one female short with brown hair; did not get a good look at the driver. There were people outside while this was going on! I went out to look for this truck and guess what, found it UNLOADING my snowblower, up by Gordon Terrace School. Called the RCMP and hopefully I get my snowblower back,” the resident told e-KNOW on Facebook.
They asked for a share on social media to give people a head’s up on these thieves seeking to capitalize on a lengthy cold snap and peoples’ trust their expensive snow-clearing equipment won’t be nicked from their yards.
“All please check for to see if yours is still there and call the RCMP if it is missing,” the victimized resident urged.
“The complainant’s family member saw the suspect vehicle at a residence at the 1100 block of 8th Avenue South and notified police. Members of the Cranbrook RCMP arrived, arrested a male and female for possession of stolen property and executed a search warrant recovering two stolen snowblowers,” confirmed Cranbrook RCMP Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Hector Lee.
The male and female adults who were arrested were held for court in Cranbrook today (January 16).
