Working together for a healthier community
The Community Social Planning Society of Cranbrook and Area has been in existence since May 7, 2008 with a mission to improve the living circumstances of all citizens through social planning initiatives, collaborative engagement, and strategic action and a vision of a healthy, caring and inclusive community through collaborative strategic action.
Ten monthly meetings have an average of 18 social sector members attending, a city council representative, Interior Health representatives and other interested community member who meet to share what is happening in their specific programs, positive and negative effects being experienced by clients in regards to societal issues, housing, food security, child care and other community and poverty issues.
As a result of discussions a Poverty Reduction Committee has been formed to ensure that effective actions are identified and strategic progressions occur in a timely manner.
Cranbrook Clicks, the online resource site and the Cranbrook Thrives Luncheons are on-going projects as they have proven to be successful initiatives for sharing information and bringing the sector together. The online site provides current contact information for anyone in the community wanting to access information regarding childcare, addictions, transportation and other resource information. Have a look at the site www.cranbrookclicks.com/cbkclks/ to assist in your search for local information.
The luncheons are an opportunity to provide resource information, connect with others working with same issues and educational aides useful to the sector. The Society continues to identify and develop strategies for more effective ways to collaborate, share and initiate partnerships to work together towards stronger outcomes for our community. All residents are invited to attend meetings to find out more and to become involved.
