EKRH welcomes possible biggest baby
A baby born at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) on Monday, May 15, may just have been the largest one born in the facility.
Shawn Tyson Williams Burgoyne weighed in at 13 lbs 9.5 ounces and he arrived two weeks early, reported Karl Hardt, Interior Health Communications Consultant.
Shawn may be “the biggest baby we’ve ever had at EKRH according to one staff member who’s been there 17 years,” Hardt suggested.
The average birth weight of a child born in B.C. is closer to 7.5 pounds (it ranges from 5.5 to 10 pounds).
