Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week of week of May 15, from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. on May 22.
RCMP responded to 192 calls for service throughout this week.
Five impaired drivers.
Eight collisions – four in town ( one of those resulted in an impaired driving investigation) and four outside of town involving an off road quad accident. Non life threatening injuries in any of the accidents.
Nine Mental Health Act calls – none apprehended/ two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Eight assault complaints: three domestic in nature where all investigation resulted in arrests and charges; two other assaults reported; three assault police officers ( in two of the incidents, subjects were very intoxicated and officers were not injured at all), in the third instance, police chased a distraught person into the bush and while rendering assistance the subject tried to swing an object at one of the police officers. That subject was taken into custody without injury to anyone.
17 thefts reported, including: two shoplifting; one theft of a motor vehicle reported (was actually a take motor vehicle without consent by a boyfriend); nine thefts from motor vehicles; one attempted theft where three suspects were identified and one as arrested; theft of license plate recovered in Slave Lake, Alberta; theft of a backpack and contents where the suspect was located and arrested and later found to have committed multiple thefts from vehicles; theft of a bull mastiff from a vehicle; six other thefts, including cash stolen from an unattended back pack at a local park/ uninstalled central vac system from a house/ cell phone from a party/ internal theft at a local business where a suspect was arrested/ theft of cooler at a campsite.
One report of bike theft from a fenced yard.
One break and enter to a businesses: B&E to a construction trailer where a computer was stolen.
Three reports of property damage: family disturbance resulting in property damage/ two were unfounded.
Six drug seizures – marijuana and cocaine.
17 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
