Fernie SAR rescue injured biker

On Sunday, July 9 at 11:48 a.m., Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was tasked to rescue a female mountain bike rider who had suffered facial and suspected spinal injuries after falling from a wooden structure and landing on her head and face.

Using its UTV, SAR members were quickly transported close to the incident site resulting in just a five-minute hike on single-track trail to the subject’s location.

Upon arrival the member’s quickly tended to the subject’s wounds and due to concern for spinal injuries packaged the subject taking spinal precautions, Fernie SAR reported on its Facebook page.

The injured woman was loaded onto a wheeled stretcher and transported down the trail to the waiting UTV and once transferred from the wheeled stretcher to the UTV (pictured above) she was quickly transported the remainder of the distance to BC Ambulance service personnel.
