Giving tourney Battle of the Bats seeks sponsors

The Battle of the Bats Slo-Pitch Tournament is currently looking for sponsors to support their sixth annual tournament held at Moir Park in Cranbrook on August 11-13.

The purpose of the tournament is to raise and donate money to local sick children who are in need.

“The tournament has been a huge success and continues to grow each year. The feedback from last year’s tournament was extremely positive and I expect the return of those 25 teams including both local and out of town participants along with many more as I plan to continue growing this tournament and what it stands for,” said Jordan Foreman, tournament organizer.

“It is through the participation of teams and sponsors that this tournament has been successful, granting us the ability to donate proceeds to someone within our community who is in need,” Foreman said.

In the previous years this tournament has raised and donated funds to a local 13-year-old girl who had AML Leukemia, a local three-year-old girl who had a DIPG Brain Tumour, a local three-year-old boy with failure to thrive and epilepsy and last year funds were raised for local Tim Besold in his second battle with cancer.

“As the tournament has been growing and more sponsors have been coming on, it has allowed us to donate more and more each year,” Foreman said.

The year the tournament is supporting Jenna Blackmore, who is battling a rare form of cancer.

“We have a lot of sponsors who have jumped on board to help which has been awesome… we also have a guy who is going to shave his head if we can hit a certain amount of donations prior to the event,” said Foreman.

Dewey’s Pub is also donating proceeds from Jello shots starting tonight (August 3) until Sunday “with the guy who is shaving his head as a celebrity bar tending on Saturday night,” Foreman added.

The tourney also features a concession, beer gardens, silent auction, 50/50 draw during the weekend as well.

Sponsorships include but are not limited to the following: Cash; silent auction items etc.

Donations of any kind would help immensely and be greatly appreciated!
