City web presence affected by global issue
The City of Cranbrook this afternoon reported its internet presence has been affected by two critical security vulnerabilities in PHP that are being reported world-wide.
Cranbrook Communications Director Chris Zettel noted: “A quick heads-up: a global issue is affecting websites, and our website teams are working on it.
“While we get things sorted out, the City of Cranbrook website (www.cranbrook.ca), Western Financial Place website (www.westernfinancialplace.ca) and Canadian Rockies International Airport website (www.flycanadianrockies.com) may be unavailable periodically throughout the day.”
BBC reports: “Websites worldwide are going offline or restricting access after the disclosure of two critical security vulnerabilities in PHP, a widely used programming language powering up to 70% to 75% of the internet. Governments, Wikipedia, and major organizations have temporarily shut down services to prevent data theft or server takeovers.”
