Partnership boosts upcoming writers’ conference
The Federation of BC Writers (Fed), Pacific Coastal Airlines and the St. Eugene Writers Conference are working together to create a wider awareness of the conference and to facilitate attendance.
Most Fed members live in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island. The Fed has highlighted the conference on its home page and in their newsletters. This is an unusual opportunity for Fed members to visit another part of B.C. and develop their writing craft.
To ease the cost of membership attendance, The St. Eugene Writers Conference partnered with Pacific Coastal Airlines to provide flights to Rocky Mountain International Airport near Cranbrook at a generous 20% off the published fares. St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino is only minutes from the airport and offers a free shuttle to and from the airport for guests. Pacific Coastal Airlines serves the most communities in western B.C. of any airline.
Pacific Coastal is also sponsoring two St. Eugene Writers Conference scholarships. One is for a writer from the lower mainland and the other is for a writer from Kelowna. The scholarships include transportation to and from the Conference and Conference tuition to a three-day workshop.
Application procedures are on the Conference web site under Scholarships.
The conference structure is unique and gives writers the opportunity to participate in a sustained multi-day critical workshop developing their craft. Normally this sort of workshop is only available in an academic environment and over a much longer time frame. The condensed time frame and work/critique format jumpstarts a writer’s craft.
Join the Federation of BC Writers and the St. Eugene Writers Conference November 9 through 13 in developing your craft and become part of the greater community of writers in B.C.
