Idlewild Music Festival runs August 20
The sixth annual Idlewild MusicFest is taking place at Cranbrook’s Idlewild Park from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 20.
Sponsored by the Cranbrook Public Library, the festival is a great family event with a solid lineup of entertainers scheduled to take to the stage at the park’s amphitheatre.
Headlining the event is Canadian country performer Ridley Bent, who was nominated for Canadian Country Music Association Roots Artist of the Year on July 27.
“Ridley Bent is one of Canada’s strongest singer-songwriters, an exceptional lyricist who seems to have an endless cast of oddball characters running around in his head,” wrote John P. McLaughlin of The Vancouver Province.
Opening the evening’s musical feast is 16-year-old Cranbrook resident and fiddler Angus MacDonald. Also appearing is Cranbrook band 60 Hertz.
Tickets are $20 apiece for the library’s annual fundraiser and they are available at Lotus Books, Pages Used Books, the Cranbrook Public Library and the Kimberley Public Library.
It is recommended that festival-goers bring lawn chairs or blankets. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available, too. Gates open at 2:45pm.
