Feeding time
By Larry Halverson/Friends of Kootenay
These Cliff Swallows have built their nests under a bridge near the Yoho-Banff boundary. These insect-eating birds are long-distance migrants, flying to southern South America beginning in late summer. Although not officially a species-at-risk in Canada, cliff swallows and their eggs and nests are protected under the Migratory Birds Convention Act.
