The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Calamity Creek wildfire (N11036). This wildfire is estimated to be 106 hectares and is located in the Calamity Creek area, 39 km northwest of the City of Kimberley.

In the interest of public and responder safety, this area restriction takes effect immediately and remains in place until the earlier of 1 p.m. (MDT) on October 15, or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and as outlined on the attached map:

• Beginning at the junction of the Dewar Creek Forest Service Road (FSR) and Westfork FSR ( 49° 43.509′, -116° 22.711′),
• then following the height of land northwesterly to Armour Peak ( 49° 47.749′, -116° 32.580′),
• continuing northerly along the height of land to the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Park boundary (49° 52.683′, -116° 33.763′) near the headwaters of Dewar Creek,
• then following the Conservancy Park boundary north easterly to where it meets Dewar Creek at (49° 53.784′, -116° 28.250′),
• continuing north west to West Peak (49° 55.421′, -116° 28.468′),
• then following the height of land in a north north-east direction to Radian Peak (49° 57.288′, -116° 25.341′),
• then proceeding south-east and south following the height of land, through Nowitka Mtn (49° 55.199′, -116° 24.132′) to Mt Manson (49° 49.043′, -116° 21.988′),
• following the height of land above the Calamity Creek watershed to Mt Patrick (49° 47.645′, -116° 20.103′),
• and finally following the ridgeline southerly and westerly back to the junction of the Dewar Creek FSR and Westfork FSR, being the point of commencement.

Note: Access to all private property remains permitted; entering into the restricted area from private property is prohibited.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:

Enters the area only in the course of:

1. Travelling to or from his or her principal residence, that is not under evacuation an order;
2. Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
3. Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity as defined in s.56 of the Wildfire Act;
4. Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression or enforcement patrol activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
