The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the November 13 District of Elkford council meeting. It was the first meeting of the 2018-2022 council.

RCMP presentation of the Third Quarter crime statistics

Elk Valley RCMP Cpl. Bob Wright presented crime statistics for the District of Elkford. The report represented some of the calls for police service within the district during the third quarter of 2018.

Elkford Community Fund presentation

Steering Committee Members shared that the Elkford Community Fund is officially established. They acknowledged the generous support from various founding donors, noting that the Committee has surpassed its $25,000 goal. The next step is to apply for matching funding that will help the committee reach its goal of $100,000 endowed before January 1, 2019. The committee requested in-kind and/or monetary support from council to assist with a public display honouring the founding donors. This request will be deliberated at the next council meeting.

District of Elkford Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 816, 2018 received its first three readings

This Bylaw received its first three readings as a result of a new condition of the recent application that the district made to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Grant Program for the Abruzzi Heights Infrastructure Replacement Project. The approval of the first three readings provides a verified level of commitment towards the project to support the grant application.
