Zoning amendment begins for 134 dwelling development
City of Cranbrook council Jan. 21 began the process to help a 134 dwelling development proposal move along.
Council passed the first two readings of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 3959, 2019 (Legacy Lookout – Wildstone Development) following an application by New Dawn Developments Ltd.
The development proposal is to build 72 multi-family dwellings and 62 single-family dwellings on the site.
The first amendment is looking to change the way ‘gross floor area’ is calculated by excluding underground parking – proposed for some homes – from the calculation. The second amendment proposed to change how an interior side yard setback is measured for irregular shaped lots.
City staff note the proposed zoning amendments do not increase the density or number of parcels from what was previously approved for this development.
Public hearing Feb. 4
Council also referred the proposed zoning amendment to the Advisory Planning Commission for a recommendation; to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for approval and will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on February 4.
