The City of Fernie reports it has received several reports about missed curbside collections and are working with SRP Projects to review them.

In a number of cases, carts were placed out after collection crews had already passed by.

To help ensure your cart is collected, please place it at the curb between 5 and 7 a.m. on collection day.

Collection times can change from week to week. Even if your cart is typically picked up later in the day, routes may shift due to weather, equipment availability, or operational needs. Having your cart out by 7 a.m. helps ensure your household isn’t missed.

SRP has made the following adjustments to their program to make sure routes are completed on time, especially as we head into snow season.

• A second truck is out on Fridays for recycling pick up.
• A second person is assisting with opening the locking mechanism for organics pick up.

And we’re working with the original supplier of the organics bin to solve the problem with the bear-resistant lids not opening during collection.
