Police this morning (July 18) report that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on July 17, an east bound pickup towing a boat-trailer combination turned left in front of a west bound motorcycle with two occupants. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the boat-trailer combination.

“The passenger on the motorcycle, a 47-year-old woman from Alberta, died at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old man from Alberta, survived the collision and is in hospital with serious injuries and his prognosis is not known,” reported Cpl. Mike Halskov, Media Relations Officer with the RCMP’s E Division Traffic Services.

There was a second motorcyclist traveling with and behind the first motorcycle who witnessed the collision, he added.

East Kootenay Traffic Services (EKTS), the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service are continuing to investigate the cause of this collision. It was reported that it was raining heavily at the time.
