Fire reported north of Elkford
The BC Wildfire Service reports there is a wildfire burning about 40 km north of Elkford, in the Weary Creek area, just west of the Elk River Forest Service Road and Elk River.
The approximate one-tenth of a hectare fire, discovered May 23, is classified as out of control and the suspected cause is unknown.
The District of Elkford reported on social media that it is aware of the fire and is monitoring it.
“This fire is out of the District of Elkford’s fire protection area, but our team will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide any necessary updates received from the BC Wildfire Service as they address the fire. There are no current indications of danger to the community or evacuation plans,” the district stated.
