Rockies Rowing Club holding Feb. 5 AGM by Zoom
To meet in person would be preferred but with restrictions as they are, we feel it best to meet online.
Hold Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. open for Rockies Rowing Club Annual General Meeting (AGM). We will conduct the business of the AGM which should not take more than 30 minutes.
Agenda items: Ensure quorum, Reports: President, Treasurer, Coaches, matters arising, new business, vote on fee increase and adjournment. Prior to the meeting we will take 15 minutes to socialize so the site will be open at 6:15 p.m. for anyone wanting to chat and catch up.
After the AGM, we will have a 2022 development meeting for 30-40 minutes. It would be great to have as many voices as possible to look over the planning process Rowing club for 2022 and beyond. Items: Come and Row event in June? Covid protocol through 2022, coach boat needs, 8+ and other boats work to refurbish, boat naming ceremony, regattas attendance and more.
This summer the BC Summer Games are being held in Prince George, July 21-24. Zone 1 Kootenays has sent crews to the games since 2014 and this year is no exception.
We are looking for youth, aged under 19 and under 17 for the races that will be held. There is a selection process to be selected to represent our Zone. We have had athletes from other disciplines learn to row and compete at the summer games: skiers, swimmers, dancers, parkour, barrel racer, basketball players, volleyball players.
We have had rowers from Nelson RC and Rockies RC on the summer games rowing crews. The selection process will include interested rowers from all 3 clubs in Zone 1, Nelson RC, Lake Windermere RC and Rockies RC.
From Rowing BC: “The rowing events provide athletes the opportunity to represent their zone and compete in multiple competitions that promote physical fitness, individual achievement, and team building. For the first time, the 2022 BC Summer Games will allow rowers to compete in either a U17 or U19 category, expanding the team size to a possible 12 athletes per Zone.”
BC Summer Games Date: July 21-24.

Age: Under 17 as of Dec. 31, 2022 or Under 19 as of Dec. 31, 2022.
