Elk Valley RCMP is thanking Highway 43 motorists for showing patience following an early morning Valentine’s Day collision on the Elk River Bridge in Sparwood.

The clean-up delayed many commuting to home, work, or school.

“It appears a minor collision on the bridge resulted in drivers stopping and exiting their trucks. Due to the slippery road conditions, this initial collision precipitated the major collision resulting in complete blockage of both lanes as drivers tried to avoid the first collision. Thankfully no one was injured,” Elk Valley RCMP reported on social media.
