Spirit of the Rockies evident in parade
The first-ever Spirit of the Rockies Festival was held June 15 to 18.
The former Sam Steele Days was the same old good time, with a plethora of family events, sports tourneys and competitions, pancake breakfasts, barbecues and entertainment held across Cranbrook.
The St. Eugene Grand Parade on Saturday, June 17, was a colourful, lively and lengthy affair, with thousands of people lining downtown Cranbrook streets to take in what must have been one of the longest parades in years.
Along with many local businesses, organizations, institutions, service clubs and sports groups, floats and entries came from as far away as Calgary, Kelowna, Oliver, Castlegar, Trail, Creston, Crowsnest Pass, Elkford, Sparwood, Kimberley and Whitefish, Montana.
