Cranbrook RCMP continue to investigate carjacking incident

Cranbrook RCMP is seeking information and/or witnesses in relation to the alleged carjacking of October 2 near Yahk.

The Cranbrook RCMP General Investigation Section is continuing an investigation into the October 2, alleged carjacking incident which occurred near Yahk.

As previously reported an officer had pursued a gold coloured 2006 Toyota 4Runner SUV displaying Alberta plate BFH5351, after receiving a complaint that the vehicle had been involved in a carjacking.  At around 10:30 p.m., the vehicle failed to stop for police and attempted to evade police in the area of Cranbrook Street, before turning onto Victoria Ave., where it pulled into a private driveway. During the incident the officer discharged his service pistol. Two suspects were taken into custody; the male suspect was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP Investigators are seeking information from witnesses who may have observed any portion of the police pursuit involving this vehicle or the driving behaviour and manner in which the Toyota 4Runner was being  operated.
