Heavy rain likely turning to snow in Elk Valley
Environment Canada is warning about heavy rain continuing in the Elk Valley and along Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass into this evening with a good likelihood of snowfall as temperatures drop.
A further 20 to 40 mm rainfall will continue today as a cold front over southern B.C. tracks eastwards, Environment Canada stated.
“In its wake, rain will change to snow tonight over Highway 3 and Thursday morning across Elk Valley. Please be advised that snowfall warnings may possibly be issued.”
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Also, beware of sudden icing of roadways.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
