City of Cranbrook council has approved the schedule for the role of acting mayor for 2024, with each member of council assigned terms for serving as ‘acting mayor.’

Under the Community Charter, council must each year designate among its members, councillors to serve on a rotating basis as the member responsible for acting in the place of the mayor when the mayor is absent or otherwise unable to act or when the office of the mayor is vacant.

The schedule of Acting Mayor appointments:

January and July 2024:   Councillor Norma Blissett;

February & June 2024:   Councillor Wes Graham;

March & October 2024:   Councillor Mike Peabody;

April & September 2024:   Councillor Ron Popoff;

May & November 2024:   Councillor Wayne Stetski;

August & December 2024:   Councillor Lynnette Wray.
