Invermere is going to be outdoor winter recreation central this weekend (Jan. 19 to 21), especially around Kinsmen Beach.

Beginning Friday, Jan. 19 is the annual Invermere Snowflake Festival, with live music, warming local food, ice carving, skating (including The Whiteway) and fireworks at 8 p.m.

The fun gets underway at 5:30 and runs to 8:30 p.m.

Next door, under the lights, begins the annual Bonspiel-on-the-Lake, the famous outdoor ‘spiel on Lake Windermere, running Friday night to Sunday, Jan. 21.

Head down and catch the always differently challenged action as curlers compete with each other and the elements.
