Cranbrook woman killed in KNP crash
On February 9, at approximately 2 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park (KNP) between Kootenay Crossing and the Dolly Varden rest area.
Columbia Valley Detachment commander Sgt. Ed deJong reported two pickups collided head-on, with each carrying a driver and a passenger, all of whom received significant injuries.
“The most seriously injured was airlifted to Foothills Hospital in Calgary where she sadly succumbed to her injuries on Saturday. The 71-year-old female was from Cranbrook. The other three persons involved are still in hospital and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
There is no criminality suspected at this time, police added.
