Columbia Valley RCMP Report

By Cpl. Brian Davie

This past week, March 25 to April 1, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 46 calls for service. There was a definite uptick in traffic and overall volume throughout the long weekend, which caused a bit of a bloom for police resources. Below are two notable mentions.

Mountain bike stolen from Radium area

On March 26, police received a report of a stolen mountain bike from a hotel in the Radium Hot Springs area. The bike was described as a Norco Hardtail – green in colour – pictured above.

Disturbance call leads discovery of prohibited weapon and illegal cigarettes

On March 29, police were dispatched to a disturbance at a vacation property between the area of Brisco and Edgewater. While police were on scene and investigating, the discovery of a prohibited weapon (switch-blade knife) and illegal cigarettes (Excise Tax Act – noncompliant) was made. These items were seized under the authority of the Criminal Code and further evidence gathering is on-going.
