McKinley brings extensive experience in municipal governance, public administration, and leadership to this role and will be a great addition to Invermere as well with his background aligning with the strategic direction of council, a district press release said.

McKinley comes to Invermere from the Sunshine Coast Regional District and prior to that the District of Mackenzie. He resigned as SCRD CAO in August 30, 2024.

Regarding his new role, McKinley said, “I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to work alongside council and staff in Invermere. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get started.”

“We are excited to have Dean assume the role of CAO,” said Mayor Miller. “We look forward to moving in a new direction supported by his leadership, innovative thinking and commitment to our community.”

McKinley begins his appointment starting January 6, 2025.

Coun. Gerry Taft added on social media: “I would like to sincerely thank Kindry Dalke for her incredible work, dedication, and awesomeness the last number of months as acting CAO!”
