Obituary of Albert Ryan

Albert Ryan

It is with deep love and fond remembrance that the family of Albert Ryan announces his passing. Born on August 26, 1931, in Calgary, Alberta, Albert was one of six children born to Annie and Buck Ryan.

Albert lived a life defined by dedication—to his work, his family, and his passions. After beginning his career with Goodyear Tire, he took a bold step in 1961 and founded Ryan’s Tire Supply. Through hard work and vision, he grew the business with locations in Kimberley and Creston, eventually rebranding it as Mr. Tire, a name still known and respected in the region. His success was shared with family: his brother Ronnie ran the Creston Tire Store, while his brother Lloyd ran the Kimberley Tire Store, making it a true family enterprise.

In 1966, Albert built his first cabin at Tie Lake, a beloved retreat that has remained a central gathering place for family. Many cherished memories were made at the lake, where Albert continued to enjoy time with loved ones for decades.

He was also an avid traveler, and together with his beloved wife Audrey, he spent much of his retirement exploring the world. The couple embraced life on the road and across the seas, collecting experiences and memories from around the globe.

Albert had a playful spirit and a sharp sense of humor. He loved to joke, tease, and was well-known as quite the prankster—bringing laughter wherever he went and leaving friends and family smiling with his good-natured mischief.

Albert was predeceased by Audrey, his devoted partner in both life and adventure. He is survived by his daughters Judy (Ray) Evans and Arlene (Russell) Bedell; his younger sister Dorothy Banon of Toronto, Ontario; and his grandchildren Sean Evans, Erin (Brandon) Pighin, Kristin Evans, and Olivia and Zachary Bedell. He was a loving great-grandfather to Aiden Evans, Paityn and Paisley Pighin, and Jayce Evans.

Albert will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, sheer determination, love of family, adventurous heart, and joyful sense of humor. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and laughter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 25th at 11:00 AM, at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook B.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cranbrook-Kimberley Hospice or the East Kootenay Foundation for Health in Albert’s memory.
