Wayne NEIDIG
Wayne Neidig passed away at the East Kootenay Hospital on Friday August 15, 2025, a very short time after his diagnosis of kidney cancer. The tumor in his brain was very aggressive and took his life in less than a month. Wayne was born on Aug 19, 1971 in the Fernie Hospital.
In his younger years, Wayne and his siblings grew up in Richmond, BC before the family moved back to Fernie. Wayne worked at Overwaitea for some time and then at Super 8 as a night clerk.
Wayne’s passion was hockey. He treasured the time he worked at the arena, first as a rink rat, then once he got older, he took care of the concession stand. He would be there for every game from the youngest to the Ghostriders.
Wayne was his parents primary care giver for the past few years.
Wayne is survived by his mom, Nettie (May) Neidig; brother, Shayne Neidig; sister, Jennifer Barr (Todd) and their families, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by his dad, Kory Neidig.
We would like to Thank Dr. Soetaert for the treatment of Wayne over many years; his diabetic nurse, Lynn, and Dr Vaid of the ICU in Cranbrook.
There will be no funeral as Wayne requested.
