Obituary of Dennis Gordon COOK

Dennis Gordon COOK

December 2, 1945 ~ August 5, 2025 (age 79)

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Dennis Gordon Cook on August 5, 2025, at the age of 79. Dennis passed peacefully at Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, British Columbia.

Born on December 2, 1945, in Cardston, Alberta, Dennis was the third of eleven children born to Gordon and Alice Cook. From a young age, Dennis was known for his strong spirit, quiet strength, and deep love of the outdoors. He found joy in the simple things — hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, camping at Lake Koocanusa, spontaneous trips to Montana, and gathering with family and friends over a good meal and a few laughs.

He is lovingly remembered by his son Scott (Penny); grandchildren Kristian (Jamie) and Lania (Stu); and his cherished great-grandsons, Xavier Mill and Winston Cook. Dennis’s legacy will live on through his grandchildren and great-grandsons. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Debra Brygader.

Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings: Richard (Shirley), Delbert (Diane), Brian (Cathy), Ernie (Karen), Cheryl, and Sharon (Ralph). He is also survived by sisters-in-law Marilynne and Karen; brother-in-law Frank (Fran) Kubos; sister-in-law Betty (Robert) Rossier; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and close friends who will forever miss his presence.

He now reunites with those who went before him: his beloved wife, Louise “Weezie”; his eldest son, Troy; siblings Faye, Neil, Allan, and Gary; sister-in-law Shirley; his parents, Alice and Gordon; in-laws Louis (“Pops”) and Vicki Kubos; and brother-in-law Fred Wolfram.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Michal’s for his attentive care and patience — we know Dad kept you on your toes and often tried to pull a fast one. He had a way of hiding his struggles, always wanting to protect us. Deep gratitude also goes to the dedicated staff at Rocky Mountain Village for their care and compassion over the past two years — we know he could be a handful, but your kindness meant the world. And a special thank you to JJ and Wendy from Cherished Memories for guiding us with care and dignity through this farewell.

Dad, your absence leaves a quiet space that can never truly be filled. But we take comfort in knowing you’re back with Mom and Troy — please wrap them both in a big hug from us. We feel you with us in the wind, the trees, the stillness of the lake, and every moment we gather as family.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 27, 2025, at 1 pm in the Serenity Chapel at Cherished Memories.
