If you’re experiencing issues with your internet or cellphone in the Elk Valley this afternoon (Oct. 10), you’re not alone.

The City of Fernie reported at 1:15 p.m. on social media that a third-party contractor has struck a main underground fibre line while working earlier today.

TELUS is working on repairs but estimates up to six hours for both cellular and internet services to be fully restored, the city noted.

This outage is affecting customers from Morrissey to Elkford.

Telus reports service technicians are on-site and investigation is underway.
