Obituary of Lynne Drobot
Lynne Drobot
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynne Drobot, on October 24, 2025.
Lynne was born to Frank & Anne Townsend in Fort Macleod, Alberta.
Mom moved to Cranbrook at the age of 4 and became friend with Tootie Little (Gripich). They both lived on 11th Avenue at the time and stayed the best of friends all these years later. Mom also worked as a secretary for Violet Clark Realty. Mom graduated in ’56!
Mom met the love of her life Andrew Drobot, and in November of 1958 they went across the line and got hitched. Mom would tell us she wouldn’t have changed a thing. She then has us 4 kids in 6 years, and we kept her busy. Andy kept her busy also with his sports; Hockey, ballgames, and coaching. Mom enjoyed watching him play. Andy also had a great sense of humour and mom had a lot of laughs over the years, never a dull moment.
I remember when we would all be out around the neighborhood playing, you could hear mom calling “Mark, Lorna, Melody, Jennifer!” and when you heard that you know to come home. Everyone in the neighborhood could hear her. In our later years we would tell mom stories of what we were up to and she would just shake her head. We had a lot of freedom back then as kids, it was great. We were lucky we had our mom’s parents just on the next block down the street. Grandpa Townsend built house & mom lived there in younger years 6 and up. That home was always the Townsend home. It was our 2nd home we were always there.
As we got older mom went to work at Sears, she loved it. She enjoyed the time there and the girls she worked with, Louise, Deb, Brenda & Pat, and many others. She also spent a lot of time at Marie’s for coffee and visit.
Then came the grandchildren. Mom and dad were in their early 40’s when they became grandparents. Lorna’s children Bobbie and Jason were always close by, and Mark’s girls Terra and Nicole. The grandkids remember grandma saying “Go get grandma’s purse” and she loved her Avon lipstick, hot pink. When mom and dad retired they spent more visits to Vernon, where Jen, Don, and the grandkids lived, Shauna, Chelsea and Kurtis. They also planned trip to Revelstoke to visit Art & Bernice. Always a great time at both places.
Mom even took ip golfing and dad and her would meet up with friends Ed & Sandra at the golf course. The also enjoyed the times with good friends Louise and Alan.
Dad passed in 2009 and that was a real heartbreak for mom. She never got over that loss.
Then the great grandchildren followed. Mom loved getting pictures of all, and also the phone calls from the grandkids and great grandchildren always brightened her day. She loved her family. Mom enjoyed bowling, knitting, reading, and watching her soaps. Having a friend stop by for a coffee and a visit, or just on the phone. Later years she liked her crossword puzzles and bingo cards, or just sitting outside on patio. She as a homebody and like it that way.
One thing I have to say is that mom ‘could not cook’. She tried but she never like being in the kitchen. That’s all I’ll say about that. Mom volunteered at the Hospital gift shop. She met friends Pat, Aldene, and Marlene.
Mom lived in the family home for 58 years, it was a place that gave her peace. Mom was in and out of the hospital since May, then she went to Green Home, where she passed away. I was so thankful I was with her when she passed. So thankful.
Thank you so much to the staff at F.W. Green Home, you all cared for my mom and made me feel welcomed. Thank you Dr. Davis, you are one in a million and mom thought the world of you and your wonderful staff. Thank you Tootie, for everything, for being there for mom till the end and for checking in on me. And thank you to her friends for their visits, and phone calls. Mom’s generosity and kindness will always be remembered. And for me who got to spend everyday with her till the end. I will cherish and treasure you mom, you were my best friend. I know she’s at peace and is with the love of her life again.
Lynne is survived by her children Mark, Lorna, Melody, and Jennifer, grandchildren Bobbie ( Ryan) Cucheron, Jason, Shauna (Brodie), MacDonald, Chelsea, Kurtis, Nicole, and Terra, great grandchildren Ione, Abby, Leah, Bronson, Kyuss, and Cyprus, many nieces and nephews, as well as sisters-in-law Bernice Corneliuson and Pat Phillips.
