Obituary of Kenneth Harry Roe
Kenneth Harry Roe
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of Kenneth Harry Roe, who left us peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Invermere, B.C. Ken was born on January 22, 1933, in Diamond City, Alberta, and made Kimberley his home for the past eighty years.
Ken was a man who believed in the power of community and kindness. For decades, he gave his time and energy to those around him—volunteering with the Kimberley Minor Hockey League as a coach and timekeeper, flooding outdoor rinks so children always had a place to play, and helping with community events, fundraisers, and sports programs. He also took great pride in grooming and slashing trails for the ski hill, always finding joy in helping others enjoy the outdoors.
He worked for 42 years at the Sullivan Mine, where he built lifelong friendships and retired as a respected mine shift boss.
Ken had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether camping by the lake, casting a line on a quiet morning, curling with friends, or sharing a cup of coffee and good conversation, Ken filled every moment with laughter, warmth, and gratitude. His family and friends were the heart of his life.
Ken will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Rochelle Roe, and his children Dean Roe (Katie Roe) and David Roe. He is also lovingly remembered by Brian Buckley, husband of his late daughter Debbie Buckley.
He was a proud grandfather to Dustin Roe (Heather Roe), Jeramey Schmideder, Lindsay Eldridge (Buckley), Deanna Buckley, Sean Buckley, Danielle Roe (Greg Brass), and Shayne Roe (Tasha Roe).
He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Aidan Buckley, Alexander Eldridge, Lily Eldridge, Taylor Schmideder, Drayson Schmideder, Kaeli Schmideder, Nevaeh Roe, Sadie Roe, Ethan Brass, Carson Brass, and Mya Thompson, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Harry and Agnes Roe, David Chalmers, David and Shirley Roe, Tony and Margaret O’Neill, and his daughter Debbie Buckley.
Ken will be remembered for his kindness, his humour, and his deep love for family and community. His generosity and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
