Nitros’ Schwartz named to KIJHL Team of the Week

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Nov. 16.

Forwards

Brayden Schwartz – Kimberley Dynamiters
Schwartz picked up his second Team of the Week honour after a five-point effort (2G, 3A) in an 8-5 win over the Sicamous Eagles. The Okotoks, Alta., set up newcomer Jaden Rusznak for the winning goal and finished the week +4 while averaging 17:20 of ice time.

Liam Munro – Creston Valley Thunder Cats
Munro collected his second Team of the Week selection after putting up six goals and 11 points in nine games, finishing +6 while averaging 18:36 per night. The Calgary native posted two goals and four points in a 5-4 overtime loss to Williams Lake, then added four goals and two assists in an 8-5 win over the Quesnel River Rush. Munro also assisted on Keethan Isbister’s game-winner.

Brady Magarrell – Beaver Valley Nitehawks
Magarrell earned his second Team of the Week nod after exploding for seven goals and 10 points in three games. He scored four times, including the winner, in a 5-2 victory over the Grand Forks Border Bruins, then followed it with a hat trick and four points in a 7-2 win against the Golden Rockets. The Coaldale, Alta., product finished the week +7 while averaging 21:50 of ice time.

Defence

Ben Edwards – Grand Forks Border Bruins
Edwards played a key role in Grand Forks’ 7-3 win over Beaver Valley, factoring into two of their four first-period goals. He scored twice in the game, making it 3-0 and later 6-1, and added an assist while finishing +6 and averaging 24:19 over two games. Edwards also had an assist in a 6-5 win over Spokane.

Declan Pocock – Williams Lake Mustangs
Pocock posted a goal and three assists in two games while going +3. He helped set up the overtime winner against Creston Valley, then scored on a breakaway and started the sequence leading to Keenan Holland’s power-play winner in a 4-2 victory over Merritt.

Goalie

Stanislav Stefaniv – Chase Heat
Stefaniv was outstanding in a 4-1 win over one of the league’s top teams, the Princeton Posse. The Chase netminder stopped 46 shots—including 17 in the first period.
