Valley welcomes Dr. Ofiaeli
By Columbia Valley Community Economic Development
The Columbia Valley is delighted to welcome Dr. Ogochukwu (Ogo) Ofiaeli to our community. Dr. Ofiaeli has recently relocated to Invermere with her family and has joined the team at the Invermere Medical Clinic.
Like many physicians new to Canada, Dr. Ofiaeli had options. In fact, she considered more than 20 communities, both rural and urban, across the Interior Health region before making her decision. Ultimately, Invermere stood out.
That combination of professional opportunity, community connection, and quality of life made the Columbia Valley feel like the right place to put down roots.
“On behalf of the physician recruitment team, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Ofiaeli to the community,” said Clara Reinhardt. “We understand the challenges that can come with relocating, especially with a family, and we’re happy to help physicians get acquainted with the community and answer any questions they may have.”
Professionally, Dr. Ofiaeli says she has felt warmly welcomed. “The work atmosphere is great,” she noted. “Everyone has been quite supportive in helping me acclimatize to the new system.”
She also shared that patients have been enthusiastic about her arrival, adding, “I am geared to do my best in supporting their optimal health.
“We chose Invermere because it seemed like a great place to nurture our family,” she shared. “Invermere fulfilled all the points on my list.”
Dr. Ofiaeli brings an extensive and diverse medical background to the Columbia Valley. She began her career in general practice before specializing in pediatrics, with particular interests in adolescent health and pediatric rheumatology.
She completed her Fellowship in Paediatrics through both the West African College of Physicians and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She has also served as a Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in pediatrics at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and its teaching hospital.
Dr. Ofiaeli is especially looking forward to working with children and families in the community. “My medical practice has been quite diverse,” she said. “I hope I can harness all my experience to promote the health of residents in Invermere and environs, children and families alike.”
When asked what advice she would give to other physicians considering practicing in Invermere, her response was simple and enthusiastic: “You couldn’t have made a better choice!”
Welcome to the Columbia Valley, Dr. Ofiaeli. We are glad you’re here!
