RDEK launches Area C service survey
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has launched a survey for Electoral Area C residents to gather feedback on their feelings toward creating an Area C Contribution Service to assist the City of Cranbrook Recreation and Culture Services.
“The city’s recreation and culture services are partially funded through user fees but are largely supported through taxation. The cost to deliver recreation and culture services continues to rise, which is a trend that isn’t unique to our region,” said Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay.
“In 2024, the City of Cranbrook completed a Recreation and Culture Service Review, which looked at ways the city could improve services and ensure their long-term sustainability. One of the recommendations from the city’s review was to seek a financial contribution from Area C. By contributing, we can help protect and strengthen the programs we benefit from and demonstrate that Area C values access to quality recreation and culture.”
This survey can be filled out in a variety of ways, including online, by phone, or hard copy, which will be available at the RDEK Cranbrook office, and a random sample of Area C residents will also receive the survey by direct mail with a pre-stamped return envelope.
“It is important to note that there is no decision being made at this time. Your feedback will help provide insight into whether this is an idea that has support to investigate further,” added Gay.
A link to the survey can be found at engage.rdek.bc.ca/areacsurvey or you can call the RDEK for alternate methods of completing it.
