Phyllis Louise Arnold

We are saddened to announce the passing of Phyllis Arnold. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully, with her family present, on January 24th.

Phyllis was the center of her family. She was married for 55 years to her husband, Henry. They met at Canadian Pittsburg, a glass shop in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was charmed by this good looking man who could barely speak English and he was impressed by this beautiful young woman who worked in the office.

She was a farm girl who had been raised on a farm at Buck Lake, south of Gray, surrounded by her father Edwin and mother, Mamie. She also had 3 brothers, John, Earl and Tom.

She loved being a mother to her daughter, Brenda and son, Karl. She was very compassionate, nurturing, strong and endlessly proud of her children. Family meant everything to her. She was happiest when surrounded by family and always enjoyed having her relatives from Sask. here visiting.

She moved to Cranbrook in 1970. Henry felt like he was home in Germany surrounded by the beauty of B.C.

Phyllis worked at Farmer’s Insurance and then ICBC until she retired in 1997. She trained many of the office staff and took care of the adjusters.

She loved going camping and they also bought a cabin in Moyie, the Stumple Inn. They spent many weekends and years there. They entertained family and friends at the lake.

She loved to travel. They went to Hawaii and Mexico with their best friends, Frank and Frieda. She also travelled several times to Germany. She also went to, Austria, England, Isle of Man, and the Czech Republic. She and Henry also went across their own country, all the way to Newfoundland. They also travelled to the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

She moved into Joseph Creek in 2023. She was happy there and met many new people. She loved playing cribbage and bingo. She enjoyed her meals and looked forward to them every day.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Mamie Kinvig; her husband, Henry; brothers, John, Tom and Earl Kinvig.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda and son, Karl and daughter-in-law Robin. There are also many nephews and nieces, Callie (Jason), Shellan (Clayton), Ed, Bill, Danny (Heidi), Darren (Leanne) and Amy (Victor).
