RCMP investigate report of firearm pointed at motorists

On March 6, at approximately 7:59 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report of an unknown male allegedly brandishing a firearm and pointing it at two individuals at the Centex gas station located at 2108 Cranbrook Street North.

The complainant reported that while he and a passenger were fueling their vehicle, an unknown man approached them, produced what appeared to be a small revolver, and pointed it in their direction before walking away from the scene.

The suspect was last seen walking northbound pushing a shopping cart.

The individuals involved left the immediate area for their safety and contacted police.

RCMP officers attended the scene and conducted extensive patrols in the surrounding area; however, the suspect was not located.

Investigators have reviewed video surveillance and seized evidence believed to be associated with the suspect but are looking for public assistance in identifying the man.

The suspect is described as:

Unknown male;

Blue hoodie;

Black pants;

Pushing a shopping cart;

Reported to have displayed a small revolver.

The investigation is ongoing.

Cranbrook RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or surveillance footage from the area between 7:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on March 6, to contact the detachment at 250-489-3471.
