Key City Theatre cancels controversial show
Key City Theatre has announced it has decided to cancel an upcoming performance by controversial Canadian outrage comic Ben Bankas.
The nixed March 20 rental event sparked opposition statements from ʔaq̓am Chief and Council and the Fernie Pride Society.
“As planning progressed, it became clear that the theatre could not safely proceed with the event under the required operational conditions. The Board of Directors reviewed the situation and determined that the event could not proceed,” Key City Theatre stated.
“Our priority remains maintaining a safe and professionally operated environment for our staff, volunteers, artists, and community.
“Ticket holders will be contacted directly with information regarding refunds. We apologize for the inconvenience this cancellation may cause.”
