Firefighters offered unique training opportunity
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services (CFES) has generously been given access to the former Claydon Villa (2220 2nd Street South) by the Aqanttanam Housing Society for emergency training for firefighters.
With Claydon Villa scheduled for demolition later this spring, the building is currently vacant.

“The building offers a valuable and unique training environment for our firefighters,” said CFES Fire Chief Scott Driver. “Training in a new location allows our crews to enhance their operational readiness, practice realistic emergency scenarios, and further strengthen their skills which directly contribute to increase community safety.”
Claydon Villa will soon be repurposed into a new housing development by Aqanttanam Housing Society with Fire and Emergency Services using the complex in the interim.
Nearby residents may notice increased activity, including several fire apparatus and firefighters on-site in full response gear and equipment, until the building is demolished.
“These training exercises are planned and controlled, ensuring the ongoing safety of our firefighters and neighbouring property owners and residents,” said Driver. “We extend our deepest thanks to the Aqanttanam Housing Society for their generosity and collaboration on this unique training opportunity.”
