The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) reports there has been a bin fire at the Wardner Transfer Station.

Members of the community have doused the fire, and a water truck, as well as RDEK staff, are on the way to the site.

The transfer station will remain closed until we are satisfied that the fire is out.
