Sandbagging station opened in Fernie
The City of Fernie today (May 22) announced on social media that in preparation for spring freshet and forecasted warmer temperatures, a public sandbagging station has been established near the Operations Facility at 1492 Railway Avenue.
“During freshet it is normal for water levels in our rivers and streams to rise due to spring run-off. For anyone who lives in an area that is prone to flooding, the self-fill station is available for use at any time,” the city noted.
The station has sand and bags; residents just need to bring their own shovels and gloves.
