Boil Water notice continues for Fernie
The City of Fernie reports it has found a temporary solution to fix the electrical failure at the James White Park Wells and has transitioned from the Fairy Creek water supply back to feeding the water system with the James White Park Wells.
The Boil Water Notice remains in place until the required sampling and lab analysis can be completed to confirm the water is safe for consumption, which is expected to take a minimum of 48 hours.
Residents are advised to drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice. Water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.
The city will advise the public when the Boil Water Notice is rescinded.
Public Facilities: For your part, and as required by B.C.’s Drinking Water Protection Regulation, you must:
Display the attached BWN poster in common areas;
Post the attached BWN sink notice at every sink or drinking water fountain accessible to the public; and
Verbally advise your clientele of the BWN, as opportunities arise.
We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for doing your part to protect public health.
