Stream flows back to seasonal averages in KNP
Stream flows in Kootenay National Park (KNP) have returned to seasonal averages and the area closures of Marble Canyon and Vermilion Lake Day Use Area have been lifted.
The Dog Lake suspension bridge will remain closed until further notice. The bridge requires an assessment after being struck by debris carried by the high water.
If you are visiting Kootenay in the coming days, be aware that the recent high streamflow may have caused erosion and undercut the shoreline of rivers and creeks.
Be cautious when travelling near moving water and if you plan on travelling in the backcountry you may encounter hazards like debris, damaged bridges and washed-out sections of trail.
Check the Parks Canada trail report for the most up to date reports on trail conditions before heading out.
