Thunder Cats alumnus to attend Jets’ camp

Two Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) alumni will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on the National Hockey League (NHL) stage this week after receiving invitations to development camps.

Former Creston Valley Thunder Cats defenceman Max Chakrabarti will attend the Winnipeg Jets’ camp, while former Beaver Valley Nitehawks forward Judah Makway has been invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ camp.

Makway spent the 2021-22 season with the Nitehawks before advancing to the NCAA ranks. The 6-foot-3 forward recently completed his freshman season at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, recording three goals and nine points in 33 games. He will continue his collegiate career at the University of Maine this fall after transferring.

Chakrabarti played two seasons with the Thunder Cats from 2022-24 before moving to the NCAA ranks with Augustana University. As a freshman in 2025-26, he collected six points in 37 games.

Development camp invitations provide players with an opportunity to work with NHL coaches while showcasing their abilities alongside drafted prospects. Strong performances can lead to future training camp invitations or NHL contract opportunities.
