Open Garden Day this Sunday
The Cranbrook Garden Club’s 28th annual Open Garden Day is Sunday, July 5 with seven gardens being opened for viewing around the city.
The self-guided tour is aided by a map with each ticket purchase ($10) and a guide detailing each garden and who has created the works of beauty and art.
Marvel at the talent behind the creation of these gardens and find ideas or inspiration for your own gardening and landscaping projects – from spectacular blooms, vegetable paradises, marvelous landscaping designs, water features and a wide range of quirky, funky and fascinating eye-catchers.
Chat with the creators and glean some need-to-know knowledge from each site with guest displays such as FireSmart, water conservation/ambassadors and the East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, among others.
As well, discover local artisans’ work at each of the gardens.
Funds raised by the Garden Club during this 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. event go to local beautification projects as well as two scholarships to Mount Baker Secondary School students who seek to go into landscaping, forestry or gardening/farming fields.
Also, visit the plant sale at 1113-13 St. South between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at Casey’s Greenhouse, Huckleberry Books and Top Crop (cash only).
