Kimberley mayoral candidate touts trails as key for city

City of Kimberley mayoral candidate ‘Powder’ Matt Mosteller touts trails as key to building a stronger, healthier community in Canada.

“Supporting Trails (all season – bike, gravel bike, mountain bike, hike, dog walk, fat bike, cross-country ski, snowshoe, ski and more) is the foundation for positive change – and as Mayor of Kimberley- it is what people live here for, what people move here for and what makes us different than any other place – the fact is – we are a trail town – and I believe we can be Canada’s best trail Town,” said Mosteller.

“The outdoor economy is a powerful catalyst for town revitalization,” he said.

The trails drive investment, create jobs, lower health care costs, and are a reason why we have doctors and healthcare staff, and so much more, he continued.

“A city that connects is a city that thrives. Today, 80% of our residents moved to or stayed in Kimberley because of our trails. We are not just a town with trails; we are a trail town.

“Our trails are more than dirt paths—they are the new main streets of our economy. They bring customers to our doors, health to our families, and lasting value to our homes. Let’s build a town where we don’t just live, but thrive together through a bold, forward-looking vision.

“Frankly, if we focus on this, we will create a stronger and healthier community – Mainstreet businesses will be better off, and people will be physically and mentally healthier. This will differentiate us from other communities and attract meaningful investment in our community,” stated Mosteller.

This ecosystem extends far beyond seasonal tourism, creating a resilient foundation for community growth, he concluded.
