A remarkable life leaves an everlasting legacy. With love and gratitude, we honour the life of Marica Puskaric, who peacefully passed at her home in Invermere, on July 23, 2026, in the arms of her loving husband. Fittingly, she passed on the same day she and Miko celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Marica was born, in Zagorje, Croatia. Growing up, she knew Miko and the two began dating. Dreaming of a better future, they made the courageous decision to leave their homeland for Canada.

On in March 1961, while crossing the border into Austria, they were captured and placed in a refugee camp. Despite the uncertainty surrounding them, their love remained steadfast, and they were married on July 23, 1961. After completing the necessary immigration documents, they boarded a ship and crossed the Atlantic Ocean, arriving in Canada 11 days later. There journey continued by train across the country for 4 days to Nelson, BC, where the surrounding trees and landscape started to feel like home. They then travelled to Athalmer, where they began building the life they dreamed of.

Together, Marica and Miko built a loving family. They welcomed Joso, Zlata and Miko jr. Through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to one another, they created a home built on love, great cooking, and tradition. Marica’s kitchen was a place everyone loved to gather.

Marica worked as a housekeeper at the Windermere District Hospital, while also supporting Miko in his business. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and the heart of the family. Nothing brought greater happiness than caring for those she loved. She found joy in preparing meals that brought many people to her table, tending her outstanding garden, spending time fishing, shopping, and making sure no one ever left her home hungry.

Her greatest pride was watching her family grow through generations. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Marica is predeceased by her parents, her brothers and sister and her beloved grandson, Colin Moll.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years, Miko Puskaric, her son Joso (Shelley) Puskaric; her daughter Zlata (Wes) Moll; and her son Miko (Franzine Feldman) Puskaric. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Shanice Puskaric, Latalia Stinson, Matthew Moll, and Kyle Moll, as well as several cherished great- grandchildren, extended families, and many friends.

Marica measured a life not by what she had, but by what she could give. She gave her family a home filled with love, delicious meals, laughter, and traditions that will be carried on for generations. Though she is no longer with us, her love will always be found around the family table, in every garden that blooms and in the hearts of these who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral Services will be held at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Parish – Invermere on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. we invite everyone to stay afterwards for a Funeral tea in the adjoining hall. The family will attend a private internment and will rejoin everyone after.
