Obituary of Nick Gibbs
Nick Gibbs
It is with deep sadness and much love that we say goodbye to Nick Gibbs, husband to Judy, father to Kate and Natalie (Mitch), brother in law to Joanne (Steph and Berlin family), Jeff (Shelia) and Jim (Karen).
Nick passed away peacefully in the care of amazing doctors and nurses at the Invermere hospital where he was surrounded by family.
Nick was a well known and respected member of our beautiful community of Invermere, in which he lived and loved for over 40 years.
Nick left his home in England at a young age as a trained red seal chef, travelled throughout Europe and then found his way to western Canada where he started working for CP Hotels.
Nick settled in Invermere, where he met his wife and had his two daughters. Many people here knew him as a talented, passionate chef and the owner of Portabella restaurant. What a great way to cap his long and successful career!
Nick instilled an incredible work ethic in both daughters. He shared with them his love for history, music, adventure and his creative spark.
His beautiful English garden was enjoyed by many who passed by the Gibbs residence. He had a passion for skiing, travelling, and golf, and was a proud member of the Kinsmen club.
The Gibbs family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dad’s caring medical team. We truly appreciate all the support we received.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Right now, a great way to remember Nick would be to raise a glass of fine red wine and enjoy a beautiful meal.
We will miss you Dad… and will never eat the same again.
