Air quality alert lingers across region
A yellow air quality warning remains in place for the East Kootenay and Golden and an orange air quality warning is in place for Creston/Kootenay Lake areas as the possibility of incoming rain brings some hope for relief over the next few days.
The Environment Canada alert covers the next 24 to 48 hours.
“Widespread and significant impacts continue across the Central and Southern Interior. No improvement is expected today,” Environment Canada said this morning.
The alert does not cover Kootenay National Park.
Environment Canada forecasts 30% to 40% chance of showers this afternoon (Tuesday) with a risk of thunderstorms. Rain showers are possible August 12 to 14, as well, across most of the region.
