Obituary of Michael “Mike” DURIE
Michael “Mike” DURIE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mike James Durie, on August 7, 2026, with his family by his side and surrounded by those who loved him and shared so many wonderful memories with him.
Mike was born on October 12, 1963, in Rossland, British Columbia. Throughout his younger years, he moved around before eventually settling in Sparwood, BC, in 1992. It was there that he met the love of his life, Donna Durie. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories.
Mike found his career at Bearspaw, where he worked until his retirement. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and making the most of the life he had.
Mike loved the outdoors. Some of his happiest times were spent camping and fishing, enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. Those who knew him will remember him not only for the things he loved, but for the stories, laughter, and memories he created with the people around him.
Mike is now reunited in the afterlife with his beloved wife, Donna Durie; his mother-in-law, Leona George; sister Debbie Grant, Kristine Renz and his stepfather, Ken Loucks.
He leaves behind his mother, Anne Loucks; his brothers, Robert Durie, Ken Durie, and Harold (Bucky) Hobbs; Pete Peters; Ken Loucks Jr; his sister, Lori Harder; brother-in-law Garry George (Mandy); step-daughter Kimberly Prodraski (Brent); his nieces and nephews, Dwayne, Hope (Dylan), Alyssa (Keaton), and Akysha; step-granddaughter Courtney (Spencer); and his great-grandchildren.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us has come to an end, the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
And wherever he may end up, we hope the fly rod casts perfectly, every fish bites every line, the campfire burns bright, and the weather is always perfect for camping.
May you find peace, Mike, and may you be reunited with all those who left before you.
Until we meet again, may every cast be a good one.
